portrait session

Thanks so much for purchasing our portrait session!
FAQ: Frequently Asked Questions (Portrait Session)
1. How do I make an appointment?
Simply click the big, orange "Book NOW" button and follow the onscreen instructions. You will book a photo session. After your photo session we will schedule a viewing session where we will present your images on a screen and help you pick out your included print.
2. What is your rescheduling policy?
We require 48 hours to reschedule a shoot. You can call us and we'll cancel your appointment and then you simply go back online and make a new one. If you cancel without 48 hours notice there will be a $25 rescheduling fee. This is because that time will be blocked out and we will be standing there missing you, probably just taking pictures of each other.
If it rains or snows or the sky lets down frogs there will be no fee to reschedule. However, we have made an arrangement with the Boston Public Library and they will let us shoot there if it's too cold (or raining frogs). The choice will be yours whether to reschedule or shoot at the library (an awesome 19th century building).
3. Why is there a shooting session AND a viewing session?
The shooting session is where you goof around in front of cameras. We hang out with your family for an hour or so taking low pressure, unposed images of you being yourselves. Then, a few days later, we have you come to our studio in Porter Square and we shine our favorite images on a movie screen. We talk about why we like the ones we picked and we help you choose your favorite image for your included 11x14 print and digital file.
Plus we get to hang out with you more than once :)
4. When will I get my included print and file?
We submit the print order the day after the viewing session and it usually takes three weeks to print and ship. We call you when it comes in and arrange to get it to you. The file we can email you the day after the viewing session.
5. Can I order other prints?
Of course! In fact, we encourage it :)
6. What is a "digital file"?
A digital file is the same image that you chose for the 11x14 in digital form so you can upload it to Facebook, send it to grandma in an email, make prints at a photo place, draw moustaches on it in Photoshop, etc. One digital file (the same as the 11x14 print) is included with the coupon.
7. Will you come to my house?
Only if you purchased the $195 version that includes travel to exotic locales (within 50 miles of Harvard Square)
8. What should we wear for the shoot?
We love creating images of people as they really are so wear what you normally wear and what makes you comfortable. We recommend that you stay away from all white (it is the loudest color in the image), shirts or dresses with crazy bright patterns and logos, t-shirts with big faces or words on them, invisibility cloaks, or dresses made out of meat.
We don't encourage families to all wear the same thing because that's kind of dorky. Unless you all wear the same thing all the time in your regular life. In which case, it's not dorky at all... it's... ummmm... cool.
9. Can we use the coupon for our party, wedding, bar/bat mitzvah, secret induction ceremonies?
Not unless there are three people attending your wedding and one officiator. This is really for a family or portrait session involving no more than six people or animals. I hope someone uses this for a six animal portrait. That would be awesome. How about it you exotic animal farmers within 50 miles of Harvard Square?
10. Will you Photoshop the images so I look 10 years younger?
We consider ourselves photojournalists. This means that we like to document people as they really are. We always strive to photograph in the best possible light and from the most flattering angles, where possible, and we will hide pimples and other transitory afflictions but scars, wrinkles, skin, hair... these are who you are. We do have a setting on our cameras to make people look 20% happier, however.
11. Do you put our images online so our Aunt in Pret-de-Sigoules, France can order them?
We do not post our images online. All the print orders will be taken at the viewing session so make sure you call your aunt in France and get an idea of what she wants. Or, better yet, fly us to France and we'll help her pick. It would be Felix and Sara and their two kids, Dash and Magali. We like window seats.
12. How many images will you show us?
We generally show around twenty images at the viewing session.
13. How much are extra prints?
Here is a pricelist after the 25% discount (75% for the CD)
8x10 = $108.10
11x14 = $238.05
16x20 = $474.95
20x30 = $733.70
CD with all images: $575 (normally $2012.25)
Individual Hi Res Digital File : $108.10
14. What can we expect from the shoot?
We are very low key and casual. We walk around looking for cool places to shoot and just have you interact and play with your family. We never say, "smile" and we aren't too posey pose. With little kids we like to walk to a neaby playground and photogograph you playing with them. With bigger kids, or no kids, we just look for interesting angles and backdrops as we take a stroll through the city, or the amazing interior of the Boston Public Library. It starts off a little weird because you probably don't usually have paparazi following you around snapping cameras, but we are warm and friendly and the weirdness wears off quickly and soon we are all having a blast.
Really! It's fun.
